Newsletters
|
Newsletters come in all shapes, sizes, levels of sophistication,
and quality. They may be written exclusively for internal distribution
or used as a marketing tool outside the company. Some are homey
and conversational; others, businesslike and formal. They run
the gamut from desktop published to one-page bulletins, to professionally
designed, four-color award winners. But beneath the differences,
newsletters share a common purpose: to inform.
As with any type of business communication, if it is to be effective,
there are four questions you must ask yourself before you launch
a newsletter:
1. What is its purpose? What do you want it to accomplish?
2. What is its message? What type of information do you wish
to include?
3. Who is your audience: employees, shareholders, customers,
clients, other businesses?
4. Who will be responsible for gathering the information, writing
and laying out the publication, getting it produced, and distributing
it?

and external communication objectives. |
