Corporate Meetings
|
Meetings are integral to the way business is conducted and information
is communicated in corporate America. Yet, few people enjoy
them, and fewer still conduct them very well. Whether you are
a participant or a leader, there are many ways to make your
meeting life more worthwhile and productive.
As a facilitator, the most important
thing you can do is plan. Establish an objective, develop a
game plan, choose the most appropriate type of meeting to hold,
and invite only those people who have a reason to be there.
Then, of course, there are the skills you need to conduct the
meeting, to keep the discussion on track, to achieve your objective,
and to engage the opinions and talents of all participants.
As a participant, you can also
improve your meeting life if you aren't satisfied. Stay alert,
express yourself clearly, and listen with an open mind to what
others are saying. Whether you are conducting a meeting or attending
one, let your behavior be guided by respect respect for
yourself and respect for others.
